Provo After Rain

So I was driving home from work last night and it had been raining, i looked out my window and there was this gorgeous rainbow that had a full arc. It was right over the city. So cool. I grabbed my phone while trying to drive and held it over my shoulder and snapped a picture. I would say it turned out pretty good:

Summer Fades to Fall

It's been a while since we updated everyone! This summer has been so much fun and we've got a lot to share. Sorry, but you're only going to get little bits of everything.

The first major thing we did was the cruise! Alma's grandma took us on a cruise to Catalina Island!

The island was a lot of fun, we went kayaking and rode a golf cart around the top of the island.



There was even a mini golf course of the highest deck of the ship!



Dinners were fantastic on the ship and we got to dress up for formal night :)


After the cruise we went down and visited Joy's family in Whittier, CA. We got to go to Disneyland! I happened to have a sprained ankle so I was in a wheelchair and we got to the front of every line. It was a really good way to get around, for me anyway.


A little later in the summer we went to the San Diego Comic Convention! We went with Phillip and Brittany Sevy and Dom Rael. There were a ton of famous people there as well as a ton of weirdos dressed up in all sorts of costumes. The entertainment was endless.

Now we've settled back into the routine of school and work and life is oh so crazy. But we still try and take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful views life has to offer:


Fall isn't so bad after all...

Rock Climbing Part 2: Galaxy Area

Yesterday was a big climbing day! We headed up Rock Canyon with Andrew and Cindy at around 10:30 in the morning. We hiked up to the Galaxy Area (it took us about an hour to climb up there) and once we got there we took a few minutes to eat some delicious sandwiches and take in the gorgeous view.


After we relaxed for a few minutes we started climbing; Andrew did his first "real" lead climb up "Part of the Tribe" and then the rest of us took turns going up it as well.


We also climbed "Deforest Moon" and we were all so proud of Cindy who got over a pretty tough ledge at the beginning of the route.


We later climbed "Chewbacca" and it was one of the best climbs I have personally had; I didn't use the rope once!


"We Have Lift Off" was the last climb that we did and we were all pretty tired by the end of it. We didn't get back to our cars until around 4:30 or 5 and when we did we all wished that we had brought sun screen. All of us (especially the three whities) were pretty fried, and we are definitely feeling the burn today.

Since our last post, Alma has conquered "A Rose is a Rose" and is very proud :) [The photo below is not "A Rose is a Rose" I'm just being misleading]


We've been climbing everyday after work and we definitely love it!!

Rock Climbing Part 1

So we have recently taken up the adventurous sport of rock climbing. Right now, Joy is temporarily out of climbing commission, but soon she will be right back at it.

This is the first post of many to highlight our climbing adventures. So here is the visual journey of my climb up 'A Rose is a Rose' (5.10a). I haven't quite conquered this one without a fall yet, but I'm sure I'll have it pretty soon.

Finals?

Alma told me that if I spent half the time I do on facebook working on our blog that the blog might actually have some posts. So here I am, working on the blog. Never mind the fact that I SHOULD be studying for finals...

Preserve Marriage. Yes on Proposition 8.

Having tolerance without condoning.
We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs.

Unless Proposition 8 passes, California society will soon undergo a profound change in its basic understanding of marriage and family life.
That will affect everyone in numerous ways. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.

Proposition 8 will not hurt gays and lesbians.
In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children.
If same-sex marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches.
The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family.

Almost Finished Furnishing

Since last time, we have completed item 15 from the Hitch List. That is, Find a couch cover for our couch. This week has been filled with shopping for our apartment. We bought, among other thing, a broom, a vacuum, a mop, a bed, pillows that match the couch cover, floor pillows, cleaning supplies, trash cans, and an air freshener.

As you can see, our mattress and box spring were a slightly big for our little truck...
